#21 'Materials Trip to London'

I took a trip to London to buy final fabrics ... I’m wondering whether the russet red Dupion is up to the task of embroidery - last minute doubt as it is showing the stitching holes from where it was quilted the first time. 🤔… little problems like these were sent to test me and test me they do!

I also stopped by the Tate Modern and the V&A for some FABULOUS cape inspiration. I've recharged my creative batteries in time for 2023 and feeling in awe of the fabulous female artosst out there.

I made good use of my TATE membership and visited the Magdalena Abakanowicz exhibition at the Tate Modern. I’d have sworn she was contemporary but no no she was an artist in the 70s - 80s - 90s and into the Millenia until she died in 2017 with a huge body of sculptural weaved work which was so impressive to see at the Tate Modern today! Reminds me to be bold and brave with my art!!!

African fashion at the V&A. Some cape charge here. Filling up the battery and realising that there’s every reason this is going to be the bestest. Sorry can’t remember what the artists/ designers name is. But I noted the shoulder pads!
