Around about 2017 I started creating repeats and patterns for floor cushions and pouffes. One day I visited a talented upholsterer in Bollington who my Mum has used for years to give old chairs new life. We got chatting and a lightbulb went on in my head. I asked Mark if he could create me a velvet blanket box using my velvet and of course he said yes.
I had 3.5 meters of Coral repeat velvet printed, I collected brass handles and studs, fabric for the inside and chose the size, the legs and the castors. 2 months later I picked up my first long ottoman and took it down to show with my artworks and pouffes at London Design Fair. I have lasting memories of carrying it down Brick Lane with my friend Heidi to then deliver it to my first ‘Ottoman client’. I have been designing them ever since and have one of my own at home as a fancy dress box for my nieces when they visit and for parties when we’ve had a few too many sherries!
